Call for a 2nd International Environmental Counsel

The UN climate conference which was larded with many expectations miserably failed in Copenhagen in December 2009. At the same time the first “Climate Forum 09” took place as a conference at grass-roots level. In Copenhagen the largest demonstration until now for an environment worth living took place. The first signs of a threatening environmental catastrophe are increasing.

At the moment we experience the biggest world economic crisis until now. Especially in the industry nations it leads to canceling the measures to protect the environment which were already insufficient. Especially the European corporations are playing the “environmental angel” while in reality it is all about the supremacy of their environmental technology on the world market and the most lucrative trade with pollution certificates.

At the Climate Forum a number of representatives of environmental organizations made a comment to the effect that they have backed the wrong horse with their absolute concentration on lobbyism – and want to give their attention to a greater extent to the work at grass-roots level in the future.

In Germany a growing environmental consciousness is evident. Many small and bigger organizations, citizens’ initiatives etc. are working alongside each other – here an impartial networking and cooperation at eye level is necessary. Some corporations and top trade unionists are still playing the creation and maintenance of jobs off against the environmental protection. More and more of the workforce become committed for an environment worth living – without which our youth will not have a future.

A modern live in dignity and in accord with nature is necessary and possible. Innovative technologies are ready for use. We have to act for our personal interests and for the interests of future generations. Now!

To put through measures for climate and environmental protection immediately it is necessary to build strong organizations of the environmental movement encompassing many countries.

The international environmental counsel serves the exchange of experiences and the coordination of the environmental movement in the single countries. Every environmental organization and each individual who is supporting the environment’s cause worth living can and should participate. Only fascists and religious fundamentalists are excluded.

All resolutions (program, prices, advertisements) are passed democratically on a nationwide public preparation meeting.
